The high court sitting at Palm Ridge on Gauteng’s East Rand has heard that alleged Usindiso Building fire arsonist Sithembiso Mdlalose was in a good state of mind when he confessed to starting the deadly fire. The blaze resulted in the deaths of 76 people in August 2023. On Tuesday, Mdlalose pleaded not guilty to all 76 counts of murder.
