With nuclear being one of the cheapest and cleaner energy sources in the mix right now, government has made it clear that it wants to kick-start South Africa’s nuclear energy programme.
Speaking at the 2nd G20 Energy Transition Working Group Meeting in Cape Town this week, Electricity and Energy Minister Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa outlined his department’s goals for the expansion of nuclear technology in the country.
At least one energy analyst agrees, saying not only are there environmental advantages in using nuclear.
But says South Africa has a proven track record with this energy source.
