The KwaZulu-Natal provincial government says it plans to evacuate over 1 000 residents in Umlazi, south of Durban as the area is not safe. At least 50 homes have been damaged, and some have collapsed in the township’s H section following heavy rains. The heavy downpour caused structural collapses that injured at least six residents. The homes are built on a slope and are at risk of potential landslides.
