Eskom says no load shedding can be expected this winter, if unplanned losses remain below 13 000 megawatts. The utility’s Group Chief Executive, Dan Marokane, gave the state of the system winter 2025 outlook at Megawatt Park. He says at worst, Stage 2 will be implemented if unplanned outages reach 15 000 megawatts. The power utility has also cautioned against illegal connections that have led to rolling load reductions, described as the biggest threat to grid stability.
