Over twenty senior citizens of Kanana near Orkney outside Klerksdorp in the North West say they have yet to reap the rewards of equality since the inception of democracy thirty years ago. The South African Human Rights Commission recently found that the provincial Department of Human Settlements has violated the right to adequate housing. And it appears government continues to disregard the rights of the most vulnerable, particularly the elderly.
